Circuit of the Americas

Located just outside downtown Austin, Texas, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a premier motorsport venue that opened in 2012. Spanning 1,500 acres, COTA was designed as America’s only purpose-built Formula 1 track and has since become a world-class racing facility that hosts a variety of motorsport and entertainment events. The circuit was constructed with the goal of bringing major international racing events to the United States, and it has successfully hosted the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix since 2012, along with NASCAR, MotoGP, and other high-profile competitions. Its strategic location in the heart of Texas has made it a popular destination for fans and competitors alike.

One of the most notable features of COTA is its challenging and diverse layout, which includes a mix of high-speed straights, technical corners, and elevation changes. The Grand Prix circuit, used for Formula 1 and MotoGP races, measures 3.426 miles (5.514 km) and includes several iconic turns, such as the fast and sweeping Turn 1, the challenging Turn 12 hairpin, and the technical sequence of Turns 6a and 6b, which were introduced to enhance the racing experience. The track’s design incorporates elements inspired by famous circuits around the world, offering drivers a unique challenge while providing spectators with excellent viewing opportunities from multiple vantage points.
