Texas Mini Grands Prix
About
Texas Mini Grand Prix (TMGP) is an American organization established in 1989 that promotes and hosts small motorcycle road races throughout Texas. Operating primarily at local kart tracks, TMGP's events include both competitive sprint races and mini endurance races, offering an opportunity for teams to test their skills over extended periods. Beyond racing, the organization also welcomes individuals who wish to utilize the track environment to improve their riding skills, even if they are not competing.
TMGP caters to a diverse range of rider skill levels, from those new to racing to experienced competitors. They offer a riders school specifically designed for new participants to help them embark on their racing career, though prospective attendees should note that this instruction is not available on all race weekends and requires prior booking. The organization boasts a rich history, having seen many well-known riders like Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies, and Garrett Gerloff race with the series. While initially popular with Yamaha YSR50s, TMGP events today showcase a variety of small motorcycles, including YSRs, NSRs, KLX110s, and KX65s. Race events are frequently held in Katy, Texas, serving as a key location for their series schedule.
